“Each one of us matters, has a role to play, and makes a difference. Each one of us must take responsibility for our own lives, and above all, show respect and love for living things around us, especially each other.”
Nice to Meet You!
I’m Lauren, the writer and creator behind The Miller Acres. Whether you have been following along from the beginning or just happened across this blog by chance, WELCOME–I’m so happy that you are here!
I started this blog shortly after my husband and I purchased an old fixer-upper farmhouse nestled back on a few acres in south-central Kansas as a way to share our progress as we restore our home to her early 20th century glory and learn the art of modern-day homesteading.
A year ago, we never imagined that our life would look like this, but after a job loss, quick move, and lots of “no’s and not yets” we put in an offer on our current home and started dreaming up a life for our little family that we never imagined or thought was possible.
I consider myself a multi-passionate person, and many of these passions are rooted in pursuing a more sustainable lifestyle in order to better love and care for the beautiful earth that the Lord gave to us. I think that the term sustainability can often bring on feelings of shame and overwhelm, so I am here with the belief that together we can gradually make SMART (specific – measurable – attainable – realistic – timely) and simple changes over time that have a lasting impact.
I hope that you’ll stick around as we restore our little farmhouse with elements of vintage charm, grow whimsical cottage gardens, plant plots of organic produce, learn to care for chickens, spend our days raising our sweet son, sew our clothes from natural fibers, and pursue a more sustainable lifestyle–sharing our failures and successes and everything in between along the way!
