Cleaning products aren’t cheap and their marketing companies sure know how to make us think that we need this product for windows and that product for kitchen counters and this one for bathroom counters and another product for the shower. In the past, I bought specific cleaning products for each task, and although they definitely did their jobs–they also seemed to run out all within the same week. Then, I’d find myself spending over $100 just to replace them. Here’s an eco-friendly cleaning concentrate that is inexpensive and lasts for a long time! It can be used on nearly every surface in your home.

An Eco-Friendly Cleaning Concentrate that Does it All
Since embarking on this journey toward a more sustainable lifestyle, we have been looking not only for cleaner products but also for ways to reduce our consumption. A few years ago, I found a cleaning concentrate from Rocky Mountain Oils that lasts for months and can be used on nearly every surface in our home.
I originally found Rocky Mountain Oils when searching for a high-quality essential oil company that did not require minimum orders or memberships. They also have organic versions of their essential oils as well as other home and personal care products. I decided to try out their cleaning solution. The Tohi Multi-Purpose Cleaning Concentrate contains pure essential oils such as clove, cinnamon, lemon, orange, oregano, thyme, rosemary, nutmeg, ginger, and eucalyptus. RMO promises that their cleaning solution does not contain any phthalates, parabens, artificial colors, artificial fragrances, formaldehyde, sulphates, BHA, BHT, DEA,MEA, TEA, GMOs, or animal testing.
An Eco-Friendly Cleaning Concentrate that Lasts all Year!
The Tohi Cleaner can be used as a multi-purpose cleaner when 2 TBSP are mixed with 24 oz. of water. For bathroom cleaning, just change from 2 to 3 TBSP. You can even use this cleaner for handwashing dishes! I have a few glass spray bottles like these that I mix the Tohi Cleaner in, and I keep a few bottles of it around the house for easy cleaning. Since switching to natural, nontoxic cleaners, I am more sensitive to strong chemical smells and this cleaner has such a pleasant, natural aroma. Because the Tohi Cleaner is a concentrate that can be mixed with water, one bottle usually lasts me at least a year. $16 for a year’s worth of cleaning supplies? Not bad, if you ask me!
Essential Oils
In addition to the Tohi Cleaner, I usually stock up on a few of my favorite essential oils a few times a year. Some of my favorites include Immune Strength which I diffuse when someone in my family isn’t feeling well. I also love Lavender, Cedarwood, and Tranquility. I diffuse them at night or put on my feet to aid with sleep. Some nights I struggle to fall asleep, and within minutes of using these oils I am out! I also love diffusing fresh citrus scents like Lemon or Orange paired with a savory oil like Rosemary. We have several diffusers throughout our home and generally use them in place of candles. You can also buy bundle kits of RMO’s essential oils to save. Here’s the Essentials Kit and the Kid-Safe Kit which is pre-diluted for little ones.
Have you ever tried an eco-friendly cleaning concentrate or essential oils in your home? I think these two things are some of the easiest and most inexpensive sustainable swaps out there!
