My Search for the Perfect Postpartum Sweater

At the time I am writing this post, I am three months postpartum with my third baby. After having him, very few of my clothing items fit. I wore oversized sweatshirts and leggings for the first few months postpartum; however, I wanted to find some pieces that made me feel a little more put together.

I like to keep a minimal, capsule-style wardrobe, so I didn’t want to buy a bunch of pieces that would only fit for a few months. While I do value buying clothes that fit my current body, it gets expensive buying pieces when your body is constantly changing due to having babies.

Quince generously gifted me a credit to try some of their items, and I opted for the Mongolian Cashmere Fisherman Cropped Cardigan Sweater that I had been eyeing for months in addition to their Responsible Down Hooded Long Parka.  You can read my review of the Quince Parka Coat in this post.

Yes, I was drawn to the beautiful, neutral shades of this cardigan and the promise of super-soft cashmere. However, the thing that I love most about this cardigan is the boxy–yet classic–shape that works well during multiple seasons of life and body changes.

About Quince

Quince is an online brand that is passionate at providing luxury clothing, jewelry, and home goods at an affordable price. They also value sustainability and fair manufacturing practices.

Quince is able to keep their prices low by taking a different approach than a traditional supply chain that requires sourcing agents, wholesaling, and a storefront. They take many of the “middle men” out of the equation to keep prices low without compromising on quality.

Quince Cashmere Facts

Quince is known for their affordable cashmere. They even have a popular cashmere crewneck that is only $50!

Cashmere is similar to wool, but it is much finer and softer. According to Quince’s website, “Born in Kashmir, it takes its name after this northern Indian region but with an anglicized version of the word, AKA: Cashmere. Produced and loved for thousands of years, it was originally worn by emperors and eventually brought to Europe in the 19th century.”

Cashmere is also three times warmer than wool, and it is much softer! I have several wool sweaters, and while I love them for warmth, I do not like how scratchy they feel on my skin. My Cashmere cardigan from Quince is made up of some of the softest fabric that I have ever felt!

Quince Cashmere is made from Grade-A Mongolian materials–some of the highest-quality available. The material is made from cashmere goats’ wool undercoat. After removal, the cashmere wool is woven, dyed, and spun into yarn that then can be made into clothing.

Quince states, “In a nutshell, cashmere is not just a little pricier than its typical wool cousin because of its incredible softness, but also because of its durable nature, versatile wear and the extensive process it goes through to become the lovely clothes you wear and blankets you sleep with.”

Quince’s cashmere is still an investment; however, it is much more affordable than other cashmere on the market while still remaining high-quality.

My Quince Cashmere Review

As I mentioned above, I recently added the Mongolian Cashmere Fisherman Cropped Cardigan Sweater from Quince to my wardrobe. Here is my honest review of this beautiful piece.

Pros: Quince Cashmere Review

  • Extremely Soft
  • High-Quality, Thick Material
  • Available in Six Colors
  • Beautiful Ribbing
  • Oversized Fit
  • Contemporary-Cropped Fit
  • Can Be Worn Multiple Ways
  • Unbeatable Price
  • Ethically Produced
  • Nursing Friendly
  • Great for Layering

This cardigan is soft. Like really soft. Some natural fibers like wool can be scratchy and irritating to sensitive skin. However, this is the softest shirt that I own. It is also thicker and warmer than I expected but not too heavy.

This cardigan is currently available in six beautiful neutrals. It has beautiful ribbing and buttons for detail.

It has an oversized fit and a contemporary-cropped cut. This sweater looks great with high rise pants or skirts. It can also be worn buttoned or unbuttoned, and you could probably even wear the buttons in the back for a unique look!

This sweater is currently listed just under $120. It is an investment piece, but significantly cheaper than other places that offer similar styles that are 100% cashmere. According to Quince’s website, brands like Garnet Hill and Jenni Kayne sell similar products anywhere from $249-$445.

This cropped sweater is ethically produced and made from sustainable materials. It is breastfeeding and pumping friendly. Furthermore, it can easily be layered for different looks!

Cons: Quince Cashmere Review

  • Only Offers Neutrals
  • Hand Wash Only
  • Pricey

I honestly had a hard time thinking of cons for this beautiful cashmere! I personally prefer neutrals, but if you like bright colors, you might have to look for a different style. Quince offers this similar-looking sweater in more colorways.

This sweater must be hand washed and laid flat to dry. This is a minor inconvenience but worth it for this beautiful staple. I recommend this detergent for hand washing wool, cashmere, and silk pieces.

While this is a great price for 100% cashmere, $120 is still a lot to spend on a sweater. If you are on a budget and choose to order this sweater, it may mean limiting your other purchases.

I have a few high-quality pieces including this sweater that I have saved up for over time. I find that I love them and reach for them again and again. Sometimes, it is better to save up for one piece that you will love and cherish instead of having 10 cheap items that you don’t really love or want to wear.

How to Style this Cashmere Cardigan

I currently don’t fit into a lot of my wardrobe, so I have mostly been wearing this cardigan with jeans. I think it would also look great paired with a cropped plaid skirt and knee high boots for a dressy look. It would also look great with Quince’s Mongolian Cashmere Straight Leg Pants for a cozy, laid-back ensemble.

Also, I usually wear my cardigan buttoned with a cropped tank underneath similar to this one. You could also wear it open or with a collared shirt underneath as pictured on their website if you want to dress it up.

I love pairing it with my All-Weather Amalia boots by Nisolo, especially on snowy days! I’ve had these sustainable boots for years, and they are still in excellent condition after lots of wear!

Other Quince Cashmere

Overtime, I’d love to add some more of Quince’s cashmere pieces to my wardrobe. You can find all of Quince’s cashmere here, including their $50 Cashmere crewneck!

A Cozy Winter Parka to Match

If you’re looking for a warm winter coat to pair with your Quince cashmere, I highly recommend the Responsible Long Down Hooded Parka from Quince. Learn more about this beautiful, sustainable coat on this post.

The Perfect Cashmere Cardigan

In conclusion, my new cashmere cardigan from Quince is my current favorite piece that I own. It is soft, cozy, well-made and goes with pretty much anything. It is still an investment piece; however, it is much more affordable than comparable styles from other stores.

If you’re looking for cozy winter staples, I highly recommend Quince’s cashmere cropped cardigan.
